Burkhart is a project produced by Pulahaole Studios in downtown Los Angeles. Founded in 1999, the team writes, produces, arranges and performs music for film, theater/dance, and artists of all genres. The Pulahaole team is proud to debut Burkhart as it's first major artist.
Kurt Burkhart is a singer/songwriter living in both Monterey and Los Angeles California. A veteran of the New York and Los Angeles music scenes in the 80-90's, he began working with the recording/production studio, Pulahaole Productions in 1999. Producer Deric Morin and recording engineer Michael "Gus" Agostinelli welcomed Kurt as a Pulahaole Production Studio partner in 2000 and they began to record songs under the artist name Burkhart. The band released a 12 song CD 12 Tracks of Contact in 2006, have been working on music for the SpectorDance modern ballet company with an upcoming Myth Project CD scheduled for release this fall, and are releasing a 7 song EP entitiled Future World Cafe to i-tunes in summer/09. The radio single "Stone" played through the mid-west for more than 50 weeks in 2006-2007 and continues to sell downloads. Watch for the new single "Think of Me" in Summer/09.
The Burkhart band is a powerhouse of melody, groove and orchestration. The band stretches out into some amazing jams, but not to excess, filled with both electronic soundscapes and Hendrix style leads. Kurt Burkhart plays has a signature beat-driven funk guitar style and Burkhart's vocal style is soulful and strong, described in the genre of Peter Gabriel or SEAL, but original in style and influence. Deric Morin lays out samples, loops, keys and percussion with lots of custom generated sounds, Michael "Gus" Agostinelli orchestrates hypnotic bass lines, and the powerhouse drummer MarkHughScaggs completes the live mix with his in-the-pocket groove! He is a real heavy hitter and moves the live show with his dynamic drumming style. The band is a definite monster combining both smart, catchy songs peppered with some great hot jam moments...this is a real must-see band! Burkhart live shows surpass their studio work, these guys are definitely world-class performers.
